Marco Silva calls it 'tough moment' for Everton post Gomes' injury

After Andre Gomes sustained a serious injury in the Premier League games against Tottenham Hotspur, Everton manager Marco Silva on Monday said that Gomes will get all the support that he needs. Silva added that it was a 'tough moment' in the dressing room. However, he showed hope and said that he was sure that Gomes would bounce back stronger.

"It is a tough moment," says Everton manager

"Andre will have all the support he needs from us. It is a serious injury and I am 100 per cent sure Andre will become stronger as a footballer player and stronger as a man, he is a fantastic lad and professional and all the support he needs, he will have from us," Goal.com quoted Silva as saying. The Everton manager further added that it is a 'tough moment' in the team's dressing room. He said, "It is a tough moment in the dressing room, the players are pretty upset but we showed good spirit after the moment. It was the most difficult moment for us in this season." The club has confirmed that the Portuguese international will undergo a surgery today. "Everton Football Club can confirm Andre Gomes will undergo surgery on November 4 after sustaining an ankle injury in today's game with Tottenham Hotspur," the club's official statement read.

Everton were left reeling after midfielder Andre Gomes was taken off on a stretcher in the second-half following a challenge from Tottenham's Korean forward Son Heung-Min which saw the Portugal international collide with Serge Aurier. Son was red-carded following a VAR review, having initially been booked by referee Martin Atkinson for his tackle. Son was visibly distraught before being led down the tunnel, while players from both teams were clearly affected by the incident.
