Beating stage-3 cancer is undoubtedly a huge deal. It's like being handed a second lease at life. That was also the case for one US-based Manchester United fan who goes by the name of John Berk. After beating stage-3 cancer, all John Berk wanted to do was go to the Theatre of Dreams - Old Trafford - to witness his favourite club play live.
So, John Berk and his friends decided to raise money for the trip to England. While they did raise enough money for a trip to England, they were still without a way of seeing the Red Devils live at Old Trafford. Then, Berk's friend decided to tweet to Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford regarding the tickets conundrum.
Marcus Rashford comes good, both, on and off the pitch
Manchester United's game against Brighton was what John Berk and his friends were aiming for, and Marcus Rashford duly obliged after an interaction on Twitter. Marcus Rashford's promise was to arrange for tickets for Berk and his friends. Rashford also asked former Man United right-back, Gary Neville, to help out with the hotel arrangements for Berk and his friends. Gary Neville is one of the owners of the Hotel Football overlooking Old Trafford. The hotel is also co-owned by Man United legends Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Phil Neville.
And so, cancer survivor John Berk was in attendance as Manchester United emerged 3-1 winners against Brighton & Hove Albion. Quickfire goals in the first half meant that John Berk and his friends were in for a treat as Man United registered their fourth victory in the Premier League on Matchday 12. Marcus Rashford later posted a picture alongside John Berk and also handed him a signed Manchester United shirt.
