Mary Earps gives perfect response to crowd booing during penalty kick at World Cup final

England and Spain locked horns against each other in a nail-biting FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 final on Sunday. The match was played at Stadium Australia in Sydney in front of a packed crowd. Spain defeated England 1-0 to win their maiden Women's World Cup title thanks to a 29th-minute goal from Olga Carmona. Spain had a chance to make the scoreline read 2-0 but Jennifer Hermoso failed to put a penalty in the back of the net.

England goalkeeper gives perfect response to the boos

England goalkeeper Mary Earps responded perfectly to boos from the crowd at the Stadium Australia. After England conceded a penalty kick in the 68th minute of the match, the crowd at the Sydney stadium started booing players. La Roja had a perfect opportunity to make it 2-0 but Jennifer Hermoso failed to find the back of the net, leading to wild celebrations from England players and particularly Earps. 

Despite the missed opportunity, Spain managed to secure a comfortable victory and take the World Cup home. This is the first time the Spanish women's football team has won the World Cup. Their men's counterparts had achieved the feat in the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa. The happiness on the face of the Spanish players was evident as they burst into jubilation after the referee blew the final whistle following 13 minutes of extra time.

England, on the other hand, would also have become the first women's team from the country to win the FIFA World Cup had they defeated Spain in the final. However, the Lionesses failed to grab the opportunity with both hands as they let the chance of making history go in vain. England players were left in tears following the loss. England players were seen forming a huddle on the field to talk about the defeat.
