Maymol Rocky predicts friendly match against Vietnam to be 'tough'

Indian Women's Football coach, Maymol Rocky on Friday, expressed hope in improvement of the team's international rankings if the team plays to its potential

Indian Women's Football coach, Maymol Rocky on Friday, October 26, expressed hope in improvement of  team's international rankings if team plays to its potential. This comes ahead of international friendly against Vietnam which is scheduled for next month which coach believes will be really tough. Rocky also expressed that difficult matches will help team gain more exposure for AFC Cup in future and also for ultimate World Cup. Indian Women football team has a busy year-round clock, as team played Hero Gold Cup, SAFF Championship, AFC Olympic Qualifiers Round 2 in Myanmar, an exposure tour of Turkey, COTIF Cup in Spain, and two international friendlies against Uzbekistan.

"World Cup our main aim," says Maymol Rocky

Maymol Rocky while speaking about team's next challenge against Vietnam said, "y are a quality side and just beat Thailand. Playing against m will help us develop as a team. Yes, we are looking forward to AFC Cup but World Cup is also our aim. That is our bigger plan. Performing well against one of best countries will make me really happy." "Our plan to get fully prepared for AFC Cup includes playing tougher teams and Federation has given us ir full support in it. government is also supporting Women's football. It’s clear women’s team and women’s football in India is growing", she added.

Rocky also backed youngsters in national team and said it was a change that she has brought into team. "I have all youngsters and hardly any senior players in team. That is a major change that I have brought in team. Our team constitutes 99% of young players and y need time. That is what we are giving m. Dalima is one of good players that we have on team. She has performed well in recent past but if she is t on team that does t mean team will t perform", Rocky said.
