Mikel Merino's last-minute goal advances Spain to Euro 2024 semis vs Germany in extra time thriller

Moments later, the Spain midfielder was hurt and in tears as he departed the pitch following another hard challenge. In the eighth minute, Olmo — the fastest substitution in Euros history — took his position.

Lamine Yamal nearly made history at the tournament by scoring a goal from the ensuing free kick, but his shot sailed past the right post. In the opening goal, Olmo scored the goal with his first attempt after Yamal cut in from the right and rolled the ball across.
