Neymar's FIFA World Cup campaign in jeopardy? Brazil star in tears after swollen ankle

Brazil forward Neymar was fouled nine times by the Serbian players and got injured in the second half before being substituted in the 79th minute.

Neymar becomes most fouled player on field during Brazil v Serbia match 

During Brazil vs Serbia match, Neymar was fouled nine times by Serbian players and got injured in second half before being substituted in 79th minute. After being tackled hard a couple of times, PSG striker was limping and grimacing with pain before having to leave field. 30-year-old was in tears on bench when doctors began treating him in final minutes of match at Lusail Stadium.

Neymar's ankle was taped with ice around his foot after which he went into locker room limping. Giving an update on Neymar's sprained ankle, Brazil team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said “We put ice on it while he was on bench and n in physiorapy. re is test scheduled for w but we will schedule it if needed. He will be under observation. We will kw more tomorrow.”

last time Neymar injured himself during World Cup was during 2014 edition of tournament played at home. striker suffered a back injury in quarterfinals against Colombia and had to be taken off field on a stretcher. footballer did t play semi-final as Brazil ended up losing to Germany 7-1.

Brazil coach Tite started with an attacking formation by playing four forwards in form of Neymar, Vinícius Júnior, Raphinha and Richarlison. Serbian defenders kept Brazil attackers quiet by t allowing m to create many opportunities. Neymar was finding it difficult to free himself from Serbian players who got physical with PSG superstar. Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha all squandered chances early on in match.

After a goalless first half, deadlock was finally broken by Richarlison in 62nd minute. Vinicius's powerful shot from left was saved by Serbia goalkeeper Milinkovic Savic, but Spurs striker hit rebound right into back of net. Richarlison made victory even more special with a stunning match-winning strike in 73rd minute. After receiving ball inside box, he took one touch to bring ball up, before scoring a fantastic bicycle kick volley. Following second goal, Brazil comfortably saw off match.
