Premier League clubs to oppose Project Restart’s neutral venue proposal over stadium deals

The bottom six clubs in the English top tier are set to resist the proposal of hosting games at a neutral venue amid the possible Premier League return in June.

rumours of a Premier League return have kept football fans in UK on edge following reports of Premier League  Project Restart plan. However, a number of clubs in lower half of table are reportedly planning to oppose  idea of having a Premier League neutral venue to complete remaining Premier League fixtures. It is reported that Premier League clubs are concerned over losing revenue from ir stadium sponsorship deals having already been struck by unprecedented financial crisis of coronavirus outbreak.

Premier League return: Premier League Project Restart

According to reports from Daily Mirror, Premier League return is tipped for June 12 if Project Restart runs smoothly. Premier League Project Restart has outlined a number of guidelines that would aid in completion of  remaining fixtures by end of July. In order to prevent outbreak of a second wave of virus, Premier League Project Restart chalked down a proposition to host remaining fixtures at a Premier League neutral venue. However, some clubs have opposed proposal of a Premier League return due to ir Premier League sponsorship deals with ir respective stadiums.

Premier League return: Premier League neutral venue

It is reported that bottom six clubs in Premier League have opposed idea to resume football at a neutral venue. Brighton, West Ham, rwich, Watford, Bournemouth and Aston Villa are reportedly clubs against Premier League Project Restart plan. report claims that 92 remaining Premier League fixtures will be held at 10 neutral sites. However, Premier League sponsorship deals for  bottom six clubs could see m lose out on up to £32 million combined. With Premier League return planned with Project Restart,  iconic Wembley Stadium has been set aside to host a number of games over next month.

Premier League return: Premier League sponsorship deals

West Ham United could be biggest losers of bottom six with £10million down drain if y lose ir stadium sponsorship deal. Telegraph reported that Premier League shareholders held a meeting on Monday which lasted four hours due to constant discussions of Premier League neutral venue. With clubs opposing proposal of a Premier League neutral venue, potential Premier League return could face furr delays pertaining to Project Restart.
