Eight years ago on this day, Manchester City silenced Old Trafford in one of the best Premier League derby clashes of all time. Man City bagged a 6-1 away win and Mario Balotelli's "Why always me" moment was born. United were reduced to 10 men when Jonny Evans was sent off early in the second half.

Premier League Derby clash from 2011 - Man City 6-1 Man Utd

Manchester City faced their city rivals Manchester United on October 23, 2011, exactly eight years ago. The clubs stepped into Old Trafford with two great squads, great fans and a highly tensed Derby atmosphere throughout the city of Manchester and football fans all around the world. The Red Devils boasted the likes of Ashley Young, Wayne Rooney, Darren Fletcher, Chris Smalling and David De Gea. Man City's line-up included Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Mario Balotelli and Joe Hart among others.

Mario Balotelli scored the opener for Manchester City in the 22nd minute of the game and scored his second goal of the night in the 60th minute. Apart from those goals, the “Why Always Me? T-shirt remains iconic and memorable for every City fan. Wayne Rooney was fighting hard for his team and tried to bring United back in the game but Evans' sending off did not help. Striker Edin Dzeko scored two as well, helping City to a big win. Kun Aguero and David Silva chipped in with a goal each.
