Portugal vs Turkey, Euro 2024 Preview: Both teams open with win but who will keep momentum running?

With two passionate teams, an opening win for both of them, and strong support from their fans, Portugal to lock horns against Turkey at Signal Iduna Park in Euro 2024 group F game. 

The Portugese side won their opening fixture with a stoppage time goal by Francisco Conceicao, Roberto Martinez's side had to imply pressure to score that important winning goal, but today will be another new challenge for them. 

With Cristiano Ronaldo in attack, Portugal is seen as one of the best teams at Euro 2024, Ronaldo failed to score against the Czech Republic in the last game, but a new game will provide another chance for him to open his scoring account.

The only question that remains here is whether Roberto Martinez side will attack from minute one, or they will soak the pressure and keep the balance in midfield, with a 3-4-3 formation, Portugal can create a balanced game , keeping ball in possession and using midfield to create chances for the forwards to attack. 

Turkey on the other hand won their opening fixture beating debutants Georgia with a 3-1 scoreline, with a winning momentum Turkey will hope to keep the form running, but facing Portugal will be a massive challenge. 

Turkey have never beaten Portugal in Euros, and have worst record against them losing seven games out of nine winning only two in all competitions. The last time these two teams met was at Fifa World Cup 2022 where Portugal registered a 3-1 win. 

With players like Hakan Calhanoglu, Merih Demiral and Orkun Kokcu Turkey will try to match the pace of Portugal, one positive for them is their two young talents Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz both 19 years old, who can operate quick in midfield and boast Turkey's attacking chances.

Portugal learning from their mistakes from the first game will try using their fullbacks Diogo Dalot and Joao Cancelo for aerial balls, whereas Vitinha alongside Bruno Fernandes will look to create pressure in midfield.
Bernardo Silva, Cristiano Ronaldo and Rafael Leao will look to dominate Turkey's defence, using the final third attempts and ball in the opposition box.

Spirits are high for both sides, as both the teams look forward to goal action, a win here could take either side to the last 16 of Euro 2024.
