However, players are reported to be unhappy with proposal.

According to media publication Daily Mirror, Premier League captains have come toger to reject any suggestion of a Premier League pay cut policy. report also claims that Premier League pay cut policy has been branded 'disgusting' by one of captains. Earlier, it was reported that pay cut could help clubs deal with financial losses amid coronavirus lockdown.

Premier League captains were informed of scale of financial losses that clubs might accrue due to suspension of competition during a video conference. clubs claimed that y could suffer a cumulative loss amounting to £1.13 billion ($1.39 billion) if players do t agree to  Premier League pay cut policy.  meeting also informed players that y will have to pay £762 million ($932 million) to broadcasters if situation doesn’t improve.

UK top official speaks on pay cut before Liverpool furloughs staff

Earlier, UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock urged every player to agree to  Premier League pay cut policy. Professional Footballers Association (PFA) has also asserted that players should share financial burden during such times of distress. PFA was aware of public sentiment and that players should accept Premier League pay cut policy to ensure clubs pay salaries of n-playing staff.
