Premier League to resume action on June 17, end season by August 1: Reports

Reports in English media have suggested that after a meeting of key shareholders earlier today, the league is set to resume action on June 17 & end by August 1

Following return of Bundesliga and La Liga, English Premier League is also keen to make a return to live-action soon after halting near end season due to Coronavirus pandemic. Reports in English media have suggested that after a meeting of key shareholders earlier today, league is set to resume action on June 17 and complete it by August 1. According to reports, Manchester City vs. Arsenal and Aston Villa at home to Sheffield United will be first fixtures. While officials eye to end season by August 1, FA cup final has been scheduled for August 8. However, an official statement from Premier League is awaited.  

2019-20 season had been halted earlier on March 11 with match between Manchester City and Arsenal being postponed. 92 matches are yet to be played from season with top seated Liverpool needing just two wins to clinch title. However, relegation battle and spots for European places remain wide open.

La Liga returns on June 8

Earlier, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez gave a d to resume La Liga. With green light, Spanish football league, which was halted due to Coronavirus outbreak, is set to resume on June 8. league had been suspended in March. Before La Liga, Germany's Bundesliga also resumed league marking return of football since pandemic hit globe.

"Spain has done what it should and w new horizons are opening for everyone," he said. " time has come to recover many of daily activities. From June 8 La Liga will return," said PM Sanchez.

 La Liga president Javier Tebas expressed happiness at Prime Minister's decision. Taking to Twitter, he said, "We are very happy with decision, it is result of great work of clubs, players, coaches.
