English Premier League football restarted on Wednesday, with players showing solidarity with the global Black Lives Matter movement.

Players of Arsenal and Manchester City, both on the pitch and some in the stands, took a knee before kick-off at the Etihad Stadium.

The words 'Black Lives Matter' also replaced the players' names on the back of all their shirts.

Ahead of the match, the first since play was suspended in March, they also observed a moment's silence to honour coronavirus victims.

Their shirts also donned a blue National Health Service heart in support of staff who have worked throughout the pandemic.
