Qatar suffers early FIFA World Cup exit; know which host suffered similar fate in past

Qatar, after losing their second straight match on Friday, became the quickest host nation team to depart the tourney in the 92-year history of the World Cup.

Qatar's journey at FIFA World Cup 2022 came to an end less than a week after tournament started. campaign started with a 0-2 loss to Ecuor which also earned m  distinction of becoming first host nation to lose opening match of FIFA World Cup. Senegal handed Qatar a 1-3 defeat on Friday, November 25 eliminating team from tournament with a game to go. exit of host nation was confirmed after Nerlands vs Ecuor match later in day ended in a 1-1 draw.

Qatar on Friday became quickest host nation team to depart tournament in 92-year history of World Cup. country hosting this year's FIFA World Cup 2022 is not only host nation to get eliminated in group stage. 2010 edition of World Cup hosted by South Africa saw host nation failing to get past group stage.

However, African side at least went out with a win and a draw from ir three games. Qatar, who was controversially given rights to host FIFA World Cup back in 2010, now faces a huge battle to win final match against Nerlands to avoid any more unwanted records. 

Senegal vs Qatar match highlights

Qatar never qualified for World Cup but got an automatic entry as host nation. Compared to opening match, Qatar did play well and managed to score ir first goal in history of tournament. After managing to hold Senegal in first 40 minutes of match, Qatar fell behind after an amateurish mistake by central defender Boualem Khoukhi. first goal came in 41st minute after Khouki failed to clear ball properly despite being under no pressure. He landed on his backside with ball dribbling away from him. Boulaye Dia lashed it in for his first World Cup goal.

Diedhiou doubled le at start of second half with a heer from a corner while two Qatar defenders failed to stop him. Mohammed Muntari did pull one back for host in 78th minute to make match more interesting. However, Bamba Dieng landed nail in coffin by scoring goal in 84th minute.
