Fans display disappointment in Kylian Mbappe ’s performance in Real Madrid vs Villarreal

On social media, Real Madrid fans voiced worries over Kylian Mbappé's performance on Saturday, October 5's team 2-0 triumph against Villarreal in La Liga. The French attacker, albeit in the starting lineup, did not help Los Blancos against the Yellow Submarine with any goals or assists.

The French star Mbappé started the game in company with Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr. Having missed a week due to injury, this represented his first start since netting a goal against Alavés on September 24. It has been evident that Mbappe is taking his own time to settle into the squad but Real Madrid fans are unhappy of him recently.

Mbappé seemed to have trouble finding his rhythm throughout the game, usually staying on the fringes of the action. His poor performance caused supporters to express their dismay on X, criticising the gifted forward's performance.

Managing just three shots, none of which were on target, Kylian Mbappé produced only 0.08 anticipated goals (xG) during his 71 minutes on the pitch. He lost eight duels and effectively finished two of seven dribbles. The former PSG star was dispossessed twice and generated one opportunity.

Only his second appearance after recovering from an injury; he had also come off the bench in the UEFA Champions League against Lille but failed to make any impact against the team with which he has had a great experience in the past. After the international break, Kylian Mbappe will now be seen in action against Celta Vigo on Sunday, October 20, 2024. It is important to note that Mbappe has been left out from the France's squad this time owing to his recovery plans.
