Rennes routs Montpellier 3-0 in French league

Montpellier won French league title once, in 2012, when it upset Paris Saint-Germain.

Montpellier’s title-winning squ featured nine homegrown players, in contrast to PSG ’s relentless pursuit of stars at expense of its own youth acemy. club also won second division title in 1987 and French Cup in 1990 with a team featuring likes of Eric Cantona, Laurent Blanc and Julio Cesar.

PSG stayed in command at top of standings with a fourth win in as many games on Saturday. Ousmane Dembélé scored twice in 3-1 win against Brest. PSG has a two-point le at top.
