Saudi Arabia moving for Premier League TV rights to ensure £300m Newcastle United takeover

Saudi Arabia is planning to negotiate a deal for the Premier League TV rights to broadcast games in the Middle East to avoid legal complications.

Saudi Arabia is reportedly planning to bid for Premier League TV rights deal in order to neutralise concerns surrounding  Newcastle United takeover deal. Newcastle takeover has been thrown into jeopardy due to illegal broadcasting of sporting events in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is at final sts of completing Newcastle takeover but issue over broadcasting rights in Middle East has been a cause of concern for Premier League.

Newcastle takeover: Saudi Arabia pirated broadcasting

According to reports from Mirror, Saudi Arabia is prepared to bid for Premier League TV rights to ensure re are final hiccups while completing Newcastle takeover. Reports from Guardian initially claimed that Saudi Arabia government is in control of pirated television broadcasting channel, beoutQ. While Premier League is yet to signal  green light for Newcastle United takeover, incoming Saudi Arabian owners are er to negotiate Premier League TV rights for country to avoid facing any legal problems in future. FIFA, UEFA, as well as Premier League and LaLiga have previously tried to take legal action against illegal streaming of football matches in Saudi Arabia.

According to reports, beIN Sports' deal with Middle East and rth Africa is set to be renegotiated next year as ir three-year contract expires in 2022. However, Saudi Arabia believes that y have financial power to outbid ir Qatar-based rivals over broadcasting rights. With  Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is set to take control of 80 percent of Newcastle United, should Newcastle takeover deal go through.
