Schalke climb off bottom of Bundesliga table with 1-1 draw against Union Berlin

Schalke earned ir first Bundesliga point this season and climbed off bottom of standings but failed to end club record 20-game run without a win after a 1-1 draw with Union Berlin on Sunday. Host Schalke were grateful to goalkeeper Frederik Ronw for keeping Union at bay until Christopher Trimmel crossed for Marvin Friedrich to head opener in 55th.

Schalke's Goncalo Paciencia came on a minute later and equalised in 69th with a header at near post after Omar Mascarell’s corner. Union goalkeeper Andreas Lu got his hand to ball but couldn’t keep it out.
