In the fifth minute Timo Werner scored for Tottenham; Pape Matar Sarr then scored a second goal in the 25th minute. Matheus Nunes scored one for Manchester City immediately before halftime (45'+4'). It was not enough to reverse the outcome though.

Acting as a false nine, Foden battled to have an influence in the last third. He barely completed 12 of his 16 passes and missed a shot on target, so producing a meagre 75% accuracy rate. He also lost possession eight times and Bernardo Silva replaced him in the 58th minute.

So far for Pep Guardiola's team, Phil Foden has had a quiet season. The 24-year-old has only scored two goals and two assists across 11 outings in different contests, less than the effect supporters and the club had hoped for.
