While speaking at a pre-match press conference, Igor Stimac stated that India will respect Oman but a win will be on their mind. He further said that in football, everyone enters the game with the thought of winning it. Stimac agreed that Oman is a very strong side and it will be difficult to win against them. India shared the spoils in three consecutive games out of which they made a comeback in two games. According to Stimac, India is not the same team as it used to be a few years ago. He explained that it takes a lot of character to make a comeback from being a goal down, and it’s a good sign for Indian football.

Stimac said that he is happy as a coach because he has chosen the right players with good character, attitude, and resistance. Stimac, when asked about grabbing just three points from four games, replied by saying that everyone knew that Qatar and Oman were the favourites to qualify from their group. According to Igor, he joined India at the end of May with the task of restructuring the team. He wants to make sure that India participates in the final stages of the Asian Cup and hopefully make it to the World Cup 2026.
