Sunil Chhetri plays cricket with Deepak Chahar

Sunil Chhetri has demonstrated his sporting versatility, showing that he could have excelled not only in football but also in cricket. A video shared by Deepak Chahar on his Instagram account, captured the talismanic footballer facing Chahar at the nets in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Dressed appropriately for the game, Chhetri confidently faced Chahar's deliveries, impressing the cricketer with his cricketing skills.

Deepak Chahar praised Chhetri's cricketing skills, appreciating the way he played the ball. His caption read, "Well played bhaiya @chetri_sunil11. Sportsman se koi bhi game khilvalo." Note, Chhetri is a very good friend of former India men's cricket team captain Virat Kohli.  

Chhetri, who is the third-highest active international goal scorer behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, has been appointed as the leader of the Indian men's football team for the Asian Games 2023. Joining him will be renowned players like Sandesh Jhingan and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu.

Deepak Chahar's injury

Deepak Chahar, on the other hand, has recently been grappling with an injury that has sidelined him from competitive cricket. The exact nature of his injury has not been disclosed officially, but it has been reported that he was dealing with a persistent issue that required rest and rehabilitation. Unfortunately, this injury prevented him from participating in crucial matches for India, including in the ongoing bilateral series against the West Indies.

Chahar has been diligently undergoing his recovery process at the NCA in Bengaluru, with the hope of making a strong comeback to the sport he loves. The Chennai Super Kings pacer recently lifted the Indian Premier League title with his franchise. He played a crucial role for CSK in IPL 2023 and helped them win the trophy for a record fifth time.
