'Today marks the end': Riyad Mahrez confirms Manchester City departure

Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez has joined Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli from Manchester City in a reported £30 million deal on Thursday.

Riyad Mahrez has sealed a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ahli from Manchester City, the club has confirmed. The reigning European champions will reportedly receive to the tune of £30 million for the 32 year old. The Algerian winger played a pivotal part as City claimed a continental treble last season for the first time in the history of the club. Mahrez has penned a three year deal with the Saudi-based outfit.

The former Leicester City winger will join the likes of former Premier League players Roberto Firmino and Edouard Mendy who also recently switched their allegiance from Liverpool and Chelsea respectively. Manchester City issued a statement to confirm the player's departure from the club after a gap of five years.

"Riyad Mahrez has left Manchester City to join Al-Ahli Saudi Football Club.

The Algerian winger spent five years with the Club after signing in 2018 from Leicester City. 

Mahrez’s spell at the Etihad saw him make 236 appearances and score 78 goals – assisting 59 more for his team-mates – as he became an integral member of Pep Guardiola’s squad.

He won an astonishing 11 major trophies with City and leaves the Club as a Treble winner in what was his final campaign.

Mahrez himself also posted on the social media as he now left Manchester City on a positive note.
