Manchester City displayed attacking intent right from the whistle at the Etihad. However, Dinamo Zagreb kept their back four strong to hold off Man City's attacking threat in the first half. Apart from Joao Cancelo's yellow card, there was not much action in the first 45 minutes. Dinamo looked satisfied with their defending as both teams left the pitch. UEFA Champions League: Raheem Sterling gives Man City the lead

The introduction of England winger Raheem Sterling added some life to the Man City attack. The winger eventually opened the scoring in the 66th minute courtesy of a Riyad Mahrez assist. The Man City midfield looked a bit below their level due to the absence of Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne. Highly-rated England youngster Phil Foden scored the second goal in the dying stages of the game to make it 2-0. In doing so, Pep Guardiola-led Manchester City secured their spot at the top of Group C with six points from two games. Dinamo are second in the group with three points.
