On Wednesday, Olympiacos FC and Tottenham Hotspur met on Matchday 1 of the UEFA Champions League 2019-20. The match was played at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskakis - Piraeus. Harry Kane of Tottenham scored the first goal in the form of a penalty. The match ended in a 2-2 draw with Spurs throwing away a two-goal lead.

Tottenham Take Lead in the First Half
The match began with both teams looking to get an early edge on the other but they were not really successful in doing so. Near the 18th minute, Olympiacos got one shot past Spurs captain Hugo Lloris but they unluckily hit the pole and could not make much of the rebound. In the 24th minute, Meriah made a bad challenge in the penalty area leading to Harry Kane getting a penalty. Kane made the most of this opportunity and knocked one into the goal to take Tottenham into the lead. In the 30th minute, Lucas Moura tried to get one into the goal from just outside the penalty area but did not succeed but he managed to give Spurs a 0-2 lead with a goal. Near the end of the first half, in the 44th minute - Daniel Podence of Olympiacos got one through Hugo Lloris' defence to get the Olympiacos one goal closer to Spurs.

Olympiacos Complete Redemption
In the 49th minute, Dele Alli got the ball past the goalkeeper but a goal was not awarded because he was offside. In the 52nd minute, Tottenham made a poor challenge inside the penalty area leading to Mathieu Valbuena of Olympiacos getting a penalty kick. Valbuena got the ball in as the stadium roared and Olympiacos celebrated. The score was now tied and Tottenham had to now grind to get back the lead they just lost. Forward Harry Kane tried a shot in the 87th minute but it ended up deflecting off the bar and he was off-side, as well.

90 minutes ended, and five extra minutes were awarded for the teams to make one last effort. Nothing came of these five minutes and the match ended in a draw between the two sides. Tottenham now move on to face German giants, Bayern Munich, on the 1st of October. Olympiacos, on the other hand, will face Crvena Zvezda on the same day. What did you make of this match?
