Zinedine Zidane's return to Real Madrid as a manager has not been the most convincing. Despite only conceding their first defeat in the league on Sunday, Madrid have not looked remotely closer like their former selves. Undoubtedly, a lot of rumours have been going around stating that Zidane's job is on the line. However, Zidane himself is not someone who is succumbing to pressure and according to British media reports, he says that though criticism does bother him, his focus is getting Real Madrid back on track.
Real Madrid: Current scenario
Real Madrid sit at the bottom of Group A with just a single point after two games following an embarrassing 0-3 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain and a 2-2 home draw with Club Brugge in which they trailed 0-2. They are currently within a point of LaLiga leaders Barcelona, but this season's start in Europe, coupled with a poor last season, has raised a lot of questions at Zidane. Also, it has been reported that Zidane's days at the Spanish capital are numbered and Madrid have made contact with Jose Mourinho to replace Zidane as their manager.
Zidane's comments
During the press conference ahead of their tie against Galatasaray, Zidane admitted to being upset with the things that have been said about him over the last few months. However, he is refusing to bow to pressure as he targets Champions League victory at Galatasaray on Tuesday. Zidane, having been at the club for 18 years, seems to be well versed with pressure and expectations at a club such as Madrid. He remains convinced that he is the right man to lead the side while also challenging his players to draw upon the club's rich tradition as they attempt to turn around their European campaign in Turkey.
