Van der Sar to take up Manchester United's Director of Football job?

Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar has reportedly admitted that he would like to be considered for the position of Manchester United's Director of Football. The legendary goalkeeper has shown interest when he was asked about it during an interview. If the said situation takes place, then Van der Sar will be the club's first-ever Director of Football. With the Red Devils facing a rough patch in recent times, the United board has been looking out for candidates for the directorial role to offload responsibilities from vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

Multiple reports suggest that he wants to get experience from Ajax before being considered for the big job at Manchester United. Van der Sar also added that he is not sure about his future yet and that United are a very big club with a great following around the world.

Van der Sar's term at Manchester United
United signed Van der Sar back in 2005 when the goalkeeper was arguably at the peak of his career. Van der Sar won seven trophies in his seven-year spell at the Old Trafford outfit, including a Champions League title. After ending his career in Manchester, the Dutchman joined Ajax Cape Town board before returning to Ajax as the club's CEO in 2016. The four-time Champions League winners, Ajax, saw their best run in the Champions League in almost two decades when they reached the semi-finals last year.
