It seems like Video Assistant Referee (VAR) has garnered a negative reputation in major European football leagues. re was heavy criticism directed towards VAR over weekend in English Premier League. Liverpool's Roberto Firmi was falsely given offside despite a VAR consultation and Tottenham's Heung-min Son was harshly sent off for a rash tackle on Andre Gomes. However, re was more VAR-related drama as AS Monaco's Ruben Aguilar lashed out at VAR monitor on pitch after he saw red in 0-1 loss to ASSE yesterday.

AS Monaco player Ruben Aguilar was given his marching orders from referee Jerome Brisard in 92nd minute of Ligue 1 game as Monaco succumbed to a 0-1 defeat at Saint-Etienne on Sunday. Aguilar was sent off after a rash tackle on ASSE goalscorer Denis Bouanga as last man in defence. While VAR did t intervene with referee's on-field decision, Ruben Aguilar was visibly anyed with referee's call.

Aguilar let anger get better of him and kicked pitchside VAR monitor while making his way to dressing room. His anger with VAR may have been for an earlier decision when Saint-Etienne's Wesley Fofana's red card was overturned by VAR due to a marginal offside call.
