Harry Kane makes a huge statement after UCL encounter

Despite the high stakes of their 4-3 triumph over Manchester United, Bayern's Harry Kane showed no signs of anxiety about living up to the lofty expectations that came with his transfer to the German club. Kane made headlines this year when he left Tottenham for Bayern Munich for a reported £86.4 million (€100 million/$106.6 million), with the total price tag perhaps exceeding £100 million due to bonuses.

The club in the Bundesliga has seen immediate success with him, as he has scored five goals in six games. His most recent goal came in Bayern's 4-3 Champions League win over Manchester United, a club that had targeted his services earlier in the transfer window. The England captain acknowledged that there was pressure because of the high price tag. After the triumph over United, the 30-year-old interestingly admitted that he was concerned about his play. The forward who converted a penalty kick against Manchester United revealed the following to TNT Sports:

"As a striker I know I'll get chances. It's exciting to play with them. We're still getting to know each other. I'm excited for what's to come.

"Whenever there's a big price tag there's a big expectation and you want to repay the club who have put faith in you."

"They are going through a difficult spell with injuries. They have a lot of talent - you saw that in the last five minutes. Overall I'm not too worried about them, I'm more focused on myself."

How was Bayern Munich's performance compared to the UCL's top teams?

With this win over Manchester United, Bayern Munich have taken a step in the right direction towards reclaiming their status as a formidable competitor in the Champions League. But there is room for growth in their performance, and they will need to step it up if they want to face heavy hitters like Real Madrid and the defending champions, Manchester City. Bayern and Harry Kane's next Bundesliga match is this coming Saturday, September 23, against VFL Bochum.
