WATCH: South Korea's winning moment vs Portugal as Son Heung-Min sheds tears of happiness

Son Heung Min-led South Korea beat Portugal 2-1 to advance to the knockout stage courtesy of goals from Kim Young-gwon and Hwang Hee-chan.

South Korea defeated Portugal in ir final group st match of ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 to reach Round of 16 on Friday. Asian side beat Portugal 2-1 to vance to kckout st courtesy of goals from Kim Young-gwon and Hwang Hee-chan. South Korea appeared to be heing out of tournament for majority of game but last-minute goal from Hwang Hee-chan helped side finish second on Group H points table and qualify for last 16.

Hwang Hee-chan scored goal in 91st minute following an assist from captain Son Heung-min, who dribbled entire length of pitch to set up goal.

South Korea also needed game between Ghana and Uruguay to end in ir favour. Uruguay would have beaten Korea to vance to Round of 16 h y scored one more goal in ir 2-0 victory against Ghana. However, South American side was kcked out of World Cup on goals scored. 

Son Heung-min sheds 'tears of happiness'

After winner from Hwang Hee-chan, Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-min was seen shedding "tears of happiness" as he celebrated his team's progression to Round of 16. Despite his aver performance throughout group st of ongoing World Cup, Son Heung-min produced a stellar assist to help Hwang score match-winning goal against Portugal.

Son led counter-attack during ded time and ran almost 70 yards before perfectly timing his pass to Hwang, who put ball in back of net to help his team take le. 

"I believe se tears are tears of happiness. We waited really long for this moment and we as players believed altoger we could do this. re were moments when I wasn't able to do my best and I am thankful for my teammates that y were able to cover me in moments I wasn't able to fulfill my duties, and I'm very proud of m," Son Heung-min said after match.

South Korea will w lock horns against former champions Brazil in Round of 16 on December 6. If South Korea win match against Brazil, y will make it to quarterfinals of World Cup
