In what promises to be a riveting clash at the UEFA Champions League final, Borussia Dortmund will go head-to-head against Real Madrid for the 15th time in European competition. Dortmund, with just three wins out of 14 encounters against the formidable Spanish side, will aim to defy the odds. Real Madrid, boasting a rich history in European finals, will seek to secure their 15th title and reaffirm their dominance on the grand stage. The match at Wembley Stadium is set to reignite a classic rivalry between German and Spanish giants.
Borussia Dortmund coach is unfazed by Real Madrid’s European dominance
Before their Champions League final match on Saturday, June 1, Real Madrid, the 14-time champions, has received a severe warning from Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic. With an eye towards winning their second-ever crown in the competition, the German squad is scheduled to play the Spanish giants at Wembley. Terzic forcefully addressed Los Blancos with a clear message in a self-assured interview with Sky Germany, expressing his will and motivating his team:
“The absolute final boss is waiting. We're breaking everything down to this one game. In a game, anything is possible. If anyone has shown that, it's us. It's time for this series (of Real Madrid), eight games, eight wins in finals, to end.”
Dortmund only ever won the UEFA Champions League once, in 1997, and they made their final appearance in 2012 at Wembley against Bayern Munich. Dortmund wants to snap their losing run at the famous London stadium this time.
Nevertheless, Real Madrid is confident going into the game because they easily won the La Liga this season, while Dortmund finished in fifth position. While Edin Terzic wants to win his first Champions League, Carlo Ancelotti wants to win his fifth Champions League as a manager.
Borussia Dortmund possible starting lineup:
Kobel; Ryerson, Hummels, Schlotterbeck, Maatsen; Sabitzer, Can; Sancho, Brandt, Adeyemi; Fullkrug
Real Madrid possible starting lineup:
