Premier League: Wes Morgan addresses racism in football
He was quoted saying that racial abuse has increased in recent years but when he first started his career, the social media aspect did not exist. Morgan told British media at a Black History Season event that social media seems to be the catalyst for most of the on-going racist behaviour which is taking place now. He also added that social media is an easy platform to target players and comment on negative things about them.
Morgan informed that he was asked by the Premier League officials to be a part of their new organisation BAME (Black, Asian, and minority ethnic). A committee formed with an aim to deal with racism in football. The skipper added that it’s a great initiative and he has something to offer to the organisation. He further said that the committee is going to try and initiate changes for the further generations to improve the game for them to come through without having to go through racism incapacity.
