Kylian Mbappe reacts to Cristiano Ronaldo’s struggles in the UEFA Euro 2024 with Portugal
Despite a difficult Euro 2024 campaign, New Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has lauded Cristiano Ronaldo, therefore confirming that he is still a legendary player for Los Blancos and the game. Ronaldo, 39, missed five goals in five games, leading Portugal to lose quarter-final to France on penalties following a goalless 120 minutes.
Ronaldo took part in all five Portugal's games throughout the competition. This was especially the first time the five-time Ballon d'Or winner failed to score in the group stage in his 11 major tournament appearances.

His bad luck persisted into the knockout stages. Jan Oblak of Slovenia saved Ronaldo's extra-time penalty during the Round of 16. Later he scored in the deciding shootout, enabling Portugal to triumph 3-0.
Ronaldo once more failed to locate the net throughout 120 minutes of play in the quarter-final against Mbappe's France. Joao Felix's mistake let France prevail 5-3 even though he scored in the next shootout.

According to Madrid Xtra, Kylian Mbappe stated at his introduction at Real Madrid on Tuesday (July 16) that Cristiano Ronaldo is still a revered figure at the club and in the sports world. Kylian Mbappe said:
"What happened in the EURO won't change the legend Cristiano Ronaldo is, for Real Madrid and for football."

Notably, Kylian Mbappe had a somewhat unimpressive performance in Euro 2024, scoring only one goal and providing two assists in five matches. Didier Deschamps' squad was knocked out in the semi-final by the eventual winners Spain, suffering a 2-1 loss. Mbappe will eye glory with the new star-studded Real Madrid team.
