World Cup-winning Spanish goalkeeper and Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas suffers a heart attack in training, FC Porto says his condition is stable
Spain's World Cup-winning goalkeeper Iker Casillas suffered a heart attack on Wednesday morning. The former Real Madrid star is recovering in the hospital after having undergone emergency surgery. However, he might not be expected to play for his club Porto this season.

As per media reports, the veteran goalkeeper felt pain on the pitch during a training session led by FC Porto coach Sergio Conceicao. However, multiple Portuguese reports suggest the World Cup 2010 winner is in no immediate danger, and it's hoped he'll make a full recovery.

Casillas'club FC Porto released a statement: "Casillas suffered an acute myocardial infarction during Wednesday morning training session held at the PortoGaia training centre in Olival.
"The work session was promptly interrupted to provide assistance to the Porto goalkeeper, who is currently at the Hospital CUF Porto. Casillas is well, stable and his heart problem [is] solved."

Casillas had parted ways with Real Madrid to join FC Porto after having established himself as one of the world-class goalkeepers in both club and country football.
The two-time Euro Cup winner had made 725 appearances for Real Madrid where he has won La Liga five times while also claiming three Champions League trophies and two Copa del Rey crowns. Casillas has led Madrid to 19 trophies and also holds the record for most appearances by a goalkeeper in the FIFPro World XI as well as the record for most-ever appearances in the Champions League. The iconic goalkeeper has not been deprived of a silverware even after joining Porto as he has won two trophies. One of them includes a league crown in 2017-18.
