Paulo Dybala reveals the reason for rejecting the €75 million Saudi offer

Paulo Dybala has revealed the reasoning for his decision to stay with AS Roma instead of accepting a sizable offer from Al-Qadsiah. The recently promoted Saudi Pro League club offered a rich three-year deal supposedly worth €25 million yearly, but Dybala decided to stay at Roma without a second thought.

Having joined Roma on a free transfer from Juventus at the conclusion of the 2021–22 season, Dybala has been a major figure for I Giallorossi, having scored 34 goals and 18 assists in 79 games across all divisions.

Al-Qadsiah has made large expenditures to bolster their roster in their first season back in the top division, adding Belgian custodian Koen Casteels, former Real Madrid defender Nacho Fernandez, and ex- Arsenal attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Though they tried to get Dybala, he was resolved to remain with Roma. Dybala clarified his choice in an interview with Sky Sport Italia, as Football Italia and Fabrizio Romano noted on X:

“Everyone asks about the money. I put lots of things on the table, like my family, my wife, the city, the team, wanting to get back into the national team. I am 30 years old, I feel good, although I see a lot of criticism on my injuries, but I try to look after myself.”

"Obviously, you cannot say that you don’t think about it when you see that money, but there are many other things to consider and that is why I made the decision,"

Despite the fact that Dybala has declared he would be staying at Roma, although his present deal with the Serie A team is about to expire at the end of the season. For Italian teams, this contract has an active release clause of €20 million; for overseas clubs, it has €12 million.
