'You can't win a championship without gays on your team,' says LGBTQ icon Megan Rapinoe after steering USA to World Cup semis

USA entered the semi-finals of the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup as they defeated hosts France 2-1 in the quarter-finals on Friday.

USA entered semi-finals of ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup as y defeated hosts France 2-1 in quarter-finals on Friday.

After win, USA striker Megan Rapie said her performance was extra special because it came during LGBTQ pride month.
Rapie is a well-rewned LGBTQ activist and she me helines when she said Donald Trump government does t fight for same things that she fights for.

"Go, gays! You can't win a championship without gays on your team, it's pretty much never been done before ever. Science, right re,"  Rapie said in an interview with a news publication.

"I'm motivated by people like me and people who are fighting for same things. I take more energy from that than trying to prove everyone wrong all time. That's sort of draining to me. So yeah, to be gay and fabulous during pride month at World Cup is nice," she ded.

USA defeated France 2-1 in quarter-finals and Rapie was star as she scored twice for team. She registered goals in 5th and 65th minutes of match and has been constantly defended by her teammates over controversy with Trump.

team's defender Kelley O'Hara praised Rapie's attitude and said she does everything that needs to be done to get job done.

"Megan is an absolute baller. She does all she needs to do, she gets job done and she rises to occasion every time," O'Hara said to ncies. 

USA will next take on England in semi-finals of FIFA Women's World Cup on July 6.

USA was convincing in Friday's win, thanks to astute defence by ir team throughout first half. y mand to keep France without a single shot on target and hence, off scoreboard. y stumbled a bit in second half, but team still showed a defensive force worthy of a place in final sts of World Cup. lone French goal was only second goal that winning team has allowed all tournament.
