Zlatan Ibrahimovic is an enigma and few can deny it. The Swedish maverick called time on his career in the MLS with LA Galaxy in the most Zlatan way possible. “Go back to watching baseball”, Ibrahimovic joked as he posted a farewell message on his social media page.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic enjoyed a prolific career with LA Galaxy. The 38-year old scored 53 goals in 58 games for the Los Angeles-based side. His departure frees up a ‘Designated Player’ spot for LA Galaxy. This could mean that LA Galaxy head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto could look towards making on-loan Boca Juniors attacker Cristian Pavon's move permanent. Boca Juniors striker Mauro Zarate could also be in line to replace the mercurial Swede at LA Galaxy.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been known to have a flair for the dramatic while joining and departing his clubs. When he joined Manchester United for the first time, Ibrahimovic posted a picture showing himself donning celestial robes and joining hands with a devil, to signify uniting Manchester United who are also known as the Red Devils. His flair was once again on show before his last game for Paris Saint-Germain when he left a message on his Twitter account saying that he had arrived at the Parc des Princes as a king, but is leaving like a legend.
Where is Zlatan going?
After scoring over 50 goals in 58 games for LA Galaxy, it's clear that Ibrahimovic is not doing with banging in the goals. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was earlier quoted as saying that could still make a difference, both in Italy and in other countries. His friendship with current Bologna boss Sinisa Mihajlovic could prove to be fruitful for the Serie A side as the Swede is now a free agent. AC Milan could also look to snap up the former Barcelona man thanks to their recent goalscoring troubles.
