Zlatan Ibrahimovic trolls Manchester City live during their pre-season match against AC Milan
Before his AC Milan squad squared off, legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave Manchester City a light-hearted punch. Now retired, Ibrahimovic watched as the Rossoneri upset a primarily second-string Manchester City squad, delivering them their second consecutive loss.
Manchester City and AC Milan's game attracted interest when both teams revealed their new third and away jerseys after halftime. With all earnings reported to go to charity, the teams intend to sell their game-worn jerseys.
Executive Zlatan Ibrahimovic of AC Milan stole the show before start with a sly comment to the Manchester City personnel. He indirectly questioned if any Man City TV viewers would be drawn to the game's live feed, therefore disparaging the support base of the team. Ibrahimovic said:
"Do you have any viewers on this Man City TV or no?"
Ibrahimovic's comment created the conditions for an exciting game between AC Milan and Manchester City, in which the Italian team emerged as winners with a score of 3-2 at Yankee Stadium. Pep Guardiola's squad was devoid of numerous crucial players, as only Ederson, Erling Haaland, and Jack Grealish, who are regular starters, were included in the starting lineup.
Haaland scored the first goal for Manchester City inside 20 minutes, but, Nigerian attacker Samuel Chukwueze provided the assists for Lorenzo Colombo to score two goals and give AC Milan the lead. James McAtee scored a goal to make the score even for City in the second half, but Marco Nasti's goal towards the end of the game ensured the victory for AC Milan.
The reigning English champions have recently experienced consecutive losses to Celtic and AC Milan on their tour in the United States. The team will thereafter compete against Barcelona and Chelsea, followed by their return to England for the Community Shield match against Manchester United on August 10.
