Lando Norris Makes Shocking Confession Regarding Drinking During Races
Lando Norris made a confession regarding his fluid and drinks intake during Grand Prix weekends and races.
Formula One driver Lando Norris is currently at the pinnacle of motorsports as he has emerged as the latest and strongest contender for the Drivers Championship. Along with that, he has helped his team to get within touching distance of Red Bull Racing in the Constructors Championship table. Red Bull currently barely holds the lead against McLaren with just 8 points. As for Lando Norris, he is currently chasing down Max Verstappen's lead in the Drivers Championship. Max Verstappen currently holds a lead of 62 points to Norris.
Red Bull is going through a massive performance issue which has led to them struggling to even get on the podium. McLaren is capitalizing on this situation and if Red Bull doesn't fix their problems it could lead to them losing both their championships.
Lando Norris Makes Drinks Confession
McLaren driver Lando Norris has confessed that he does not take any fluids during a Grand Prix race and he blames this on his nerves before the start of a race. He even confessed that a lot of times he does not even have a bottle in his car.
When he was asked about how he gets around the problem of the not taking fluid that is caused by his nerves, Lando Norris said, "There are ways around things. There'll be some days when I can happily eat a bit more, and there'll be other days where I just can't do much at all.
"Of course, fluids is generally one of the best ways of getting things in. So normally in the morning, I can drink a fair bit, and I can easily mix my drinks with certain carbohydrates and drinks to get some longer-term energy in."
Problems During Races
Lando Norris further explained that his not drinking during races extends into the main races as Norris explained that in all his time in Formula One, he has only carried a bottle of water with himself into his car on only two occasions, and that too when he was extremely sick.
It is considered normal for Formula One drivers to drink fluids during races as the car gets extremely hot due to the races being extremely physical.
"I don't drink ever during a race. I often don't run with a drinks bottle.
"I think I've drunk from my water bottle twice ever in Formula One - and both those times when I've just been very ill, like in Barcelona a couple of years ago.
"I do try and do it. I just really struggle to and often just forget. [I] don't like drinking during the race.
"But there's other ways around of just making sure I have good energy with bars and certain drinks that I can have small amounts of, but of high concentration."
Lando Norris further stated that even though he gets quite nervous before a race, it has never gotten to the point of him getting physically sick before a race.
