7-Time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton Opens Up About His Tough Battle With Depression

Mercedes driver and 7 time World Champion recently opened up about his battle with depression ever since his teenage years.

Lewis Hamilton is one of the biggest sportspeople in the world. Even people who are not synonymous with Formula One know who the British driver is. Lewis Hamilton is quite easily the greatest Formula One driver even having won 7 World Championships and having over 100 race wins, the most by any driver in the sport. Lewis Hamilton is also an ambassador for several things such as the fight against racism, mental health, and veganism. Recently the 7 time World Champion opened up about his struggles with depression and mental health. 

Lewis Hamilton's Battle With Depression 

Recently, Lewis Hamilton revealed that he had battled with depression ever since he was a teenager living in Stevenage. Hamilton also spoke about how he faced racism and how it further put him down in terms of mental health.

“When I was in my 20s, I had some really difficult phases. I mean, I’ve struggled with mental health through my life. [I’ve had] depression. From a very early age, when I was, like, 13. I think it was the pressure of the racing and struggling at school. The bullying. I had no one to talk to.

“I spoke to one woman, years ago, but that wasn’t really helpful. I would like to find someone today,” spoke Hamilton on his battle with depression. 

Lewis Hamilton About Possibly Becoming A Family Man 

Lewis Hamilton will turn 40 years old next year and there are several questions raised about his relationship status and whether he will get married. Hamilton revealed that one day he would love to get married and settle down but right now he just wants to focus on his driving.

“One day. I wouldn’t be able to do what I do to the level that I do today with that. One of my best friends has just had a kid and I’m seeing how manic it is.

“And my nieces and nephew are a handful. There will be a time and a place for it, and I can’t wait for that part. But right now I have some work to do,” said Hamilton.
