Lewis Hamilton Reveals The Lessons He Learnt During His Almost 1000 Days Stint Without A Win

Lewis Hamilton recently opened up about his mindset and mentality during his winless stint of 945 days.

After Lewis Hamilton lost the World Championship on the last lap in Abu Dhabi, his performance along with Mercedes' performance was severely affected as the driver went a very long time without a win. With the new regulations coming inn 2022, Lewis and Mercedes faced a heavy brunt of it as Hamilton went 945 days without a race win. Eventually Hamilton picked up a race win in front of his home crowd at Silverstone. Hamilton opened up on how he learned about himself after going from winning race every weekend to not winning a race for 945 days.

Lewis Hamilton stated that the battle back to the top step of the podium was within the mind and that hardwork pays off.

“It’s been mostly a battle of the mind. Keeping yourself sane, trying to pick up new tools. Ultimately, it always comes back to persistence and dedication. Hard work. It always does eventually pay off.

“I think I learned that life is really about how much pain you can experience and keep going, and how much you can suffer and keep moving forward, you know? And that’s life, right?

“It’s not how you fall; it’s how you get up. It’s how you continue to apply yourself every single day. It’s how you connect with people that you work with,” stated Hamilton on his learnings during his winless stint. 

How Tough Period Made Hamilton A Better Teammate 

Lewis Hamilton also revealed that the period also made him a better teammate to George Russel as he learned to communicate more as the team searched for wins.

“I probably learned to be a better team mate in this period of time, because we’ve had more time to focus on communication,” further added Hamilton while talking about his winless stint after he missed out on his 8th Championship during the last lap of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
