It is no secret around the Formula One paddock that Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is desperately trying to sign reigning World Champion Max Verstappen and convince him to leave Red Bull. Toto Wolff is in the market for a driver ever since 7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton announced he was leaving Mercedes to join Ferrari from next season onwards.
Verstappen is not able to put the reports and rumors to bed which link him with Mercedes. These rumors have become more intense ever since Toto Wolff revealed that Mercedes held talks with Verstappen over the F1 summer break.

Verstappen On Toto Wolff
After the qualifying at the Dutch Grand Prix, Max Verstappen was asked about whether Toto Wolff should give up the chase for him and look somewhere else for a driver. Verstappen did not agree with this statement as he felt there was nothing wrong with Toto Wolff's pursuit of him.

"No, I mean, everyone can say what they want. I get on very well with Toto. I think he's very open about what's happening within his team, right? Also I think with the driver line-up and stuff. So there's nothing wrong with that. And at the same time, also, I just focus on my job. There's a lot to do anyway. So, yeah, we just focus on that," said Verstappen.

Toto Wolff has not been shy about the fact how he is very close friends with Max Verstappen's father and has been heard talking about their relationship a lot.
Max Verstappen currently sits on the top of the standings for the Drivers World Championship but he has got some competition this year unlike the previous year. So far in this season, there have been 7-different race winners already as Mclaren and Mercedes are closing the gap to Verstappen at the top.
