New Audi Boss Mattia Binotto Opens Up About Time He Was Absent From F1

New Audi boss Mattia Binotto opened up about his time outside of Formula One.

Former Ferrari Boss Mattia Binotto has made his return to Formula One ever since he was revealed of his duties as the Ferrari Team Principal. Binotto will be leading the Audi F1 team which will be transitioned from the current Kick Sauber F1 team. Binotto recently opened up about the time he was absent from Formula One ever since getting fired from Ferrari. he describes the time to be an extremely difficult time for him. He opened up about the difficulties he had to face in adjusting to life outside Formula One.

Difficult Time For Binotto 

Mattia Binotto opened up about the time he was away from Formula One and described it to be a difficult time. 

“Very difficult. 

“I think it's not an easy one, because after 30 years, you may dream of finally having some holidays.

“You may dream of having some days off, to visit and stay with your family, which have been great times I have to say, and very useful.

“But to stop suddenly, after 28 years, you are always at 100 percent, 120 percent, 24/7. It’s hard.

“I was already back home watching all the sessions, analyzing my data, trying to understand what was going on, reading newspapers, reading what journalists were writing.

“Just imagine how bad it can be, doing my own assessment!

“So no, it was hard, but I have passions. I think I didn't accept any compromises, also in terms of offers I received, because I was really waiting for the project, which, when it came, we signed in two days, showing the big commitment to it,” said Binotto when asked about life outside Formula One. 

Binotto's Rise In Ranks 

Mattia Binotto started as a part of the engineering department at the Ferrari Formula One team. After spending two decades there as an engineer, he rose to the rank of Team Principal of Ferrari back in 2019. He then served as the team principal of Ferrari for 3-years, until the end of the 2022 season, and has been out of the sport ever since.
