Oscar Piastri debuted in Formula One in 2023 as a driver for the McLaren team and impressed fans all over the world with his immaculate skill and drive. Now in his second year at Formula One, the McLaren driver has only gotten better since his first stint in F1 last year. Piastri has emerged as a massive threat to current reigning World Champion Max Verstappen and Constructors Champions Red Bull Racing. Across the 14 races that have taken so far this season, Piastri has managed to get himself on the podium on four different occasions and one of these also includes his first ever F1 victory which came at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Broken Ribs Since July

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Oscar Piastri revealed he had been suffering from broken ribs after he shared a photo of an x-ray and wrote in his tweet- “First part of the season done. First GP victory. First broken bone. Rib’s enjoying the break.”

The date on the x-ray shows that it is dated on the 8th of July which was the day after the British Grand Prix which took place in Silverstone where Piastri had just missed out on a podium after he finished in fourth place. Several reports speculate that Piastri injured his ribs around the Austrian Grand Prix and was still in discomfort when he won his first ever race in Hungary.

McLaren Drivers Injury Crisis

Oscar Piastri is not the only driver from his team who has been nursing an injury as his teammate Lando Norris was pictured in April with his face covered in bandages. Norris stated that he cut his nose on some broken glass and the injury was not as serious as it looked.

Speaking to the media after the Miami Grand Prix, regarding his injury Lando said, “It was just cut on glass, it was just a bit of broken glass, a little bit silly. It looks a lot worse than it is, everyone thought it was horrendous, but it’s just a little cut. I wish it was a cooler story, but sadly it is not. It was just a good day with my friends, wherever I am in the world if I can spend a few days with my friends I’m going to enjoy it.”

Apart from this, the McLaren drivers are having a good season together as they look to chase Max Verstappen and Red Bull in the Constructor and Drivers Championships.
