India’s star athlete, Hima Das, who hails from Assam has donated half of her salary for the Assam flood relief. The floods which wreaked havoc have left Assam in a bad state. People have lost their homes, livelihood and everything else. A lot of celebrities came forward and donated for the relief. Hima Das took to her social media to spread awareness about Assam’s situation and urged people to come forward and help the affected families.

Hima Das donates half of her salary to the Assam flood relief

She also urged the corporate and wealthy people to come forward to save the state. She donated half her salary to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on 16th July 2019. The 'Dhing Express' became the face of her state after her historic gold win at the Asian Games 2018. She is also the sports secretary for Assu, a regional party from Assam.

Other celebrities join in

A lot of other celebrities also did their bit and came forward to donate for the cause. Akshay Kumar donated about ₹2 crores for the state. Other celebrities like John Abraham, Cricketer Suresh Raina, and Virendra Sehwag also donated for Assam floods. The KBC host, Amitabh Bachchan, also donated ₹51 lakhs for the flood relief. He also took to his social media to spread awareness about the situation in the state.
