It was a ‘Chak De! India’ moment as Indian Women’s Hockey Team put up a fine performance to t just win FIH Series Finals tournament, but also qualify for finals of Olympics 2020 qualifiers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated team for ir achievement, terming it an ‘Exceptional game, excellent outcome!’. Describing win as ‘stupendous’, PM wrote that feat would popularise hockey and inspire young girls to excel in sport.

Moments after victory, PM Modi tweeted, “Exceptional game, excellent outcome! Congratulations to our team for winning Women's FIH Series Finals hockey tournament. This stupendous victory will furr popularise hockey and also inspire many young girls to excel in sport.”
India beat Japan 3-1 on ir opponent’s turf at Hiroshima Hockey Stium. Drag-flicker Gurjit Kaur’s two goals, in 45th and 60th minute, turned out to be difference between two teams. Captain Rani Rampal h given India an early le with a goal in third minute.
