Five Indian hockey players with mild COVID-19 symptoms doing well: Chief Coach

five Indian hockey players, including captain Manpreet Singh, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, were doing well with mild symptoms of respiratory disease.

“I am constantly in touch with all five of m and y are doing fine. SAI (Sports Authority of India) has me every arrangement to give m best care. chefs are making special dishes for m as per ir choice, beyond mess menu, and athletes are very happy about it,” chief coach Graham Reid said from Bangaluru on Saturday.

Two SAI officers have been earmarked to exclusively monitor athletes and cater to ir requirements and ensure that five athletes have 24-hours access to SAI authorities on campus.

According to SAI, y were being attended to by its in-house doctor as well as one doctor from state government, who has been deputed on SAI's request. ditionally, SAI has got onboard expert doctors from Manipal Hospital, who have also attended to players.

" vitals of players like temperature, oxygen levels have been monitored and all five players have been found to be mild symptomatic cases. Except for one, or four players did t have a fever. y are doing fine and we have put m on immunity boosters and or support medicines," Dr Avinash HR, who has been deputed by state government and diagsed players, said.

Routine investigations as per protocol will be conducted by doctors till ir vitals are rmal again.

On Friday, five Indian Hockey Players, including captain Manpreet Singh tested positive for Coronavirus on arrival at SAI Bengaluru for Hockey National Camp.

Apart from Manpreet, Surender Kumar, Jaskaran Singh and Varun Kumar, who reported to National Hockey Camp in Sports Authority of India's National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) in Bengaluru along with team, after a home break, have tested COVID positive.

This was revealed since as a proactive step, SAI me it mandatory for all athletes, who reported back to camp to take a rapid COVID-19 test upon arrival. 

Since all athletes who tested positive h travelled toger, re is a high likelihood that y contracted virus while travelling from ir hometowns to Bengaluru.

All four tested negative in rapid antigen test. However, since Manpreet and Surender began to display some COVID symptoms later, y along with or ten athletes who h travelled toger were given quantitative RT-PCR test on Thursday, and four have been found to be COVID positive.
