Hockey India provides support of ₹10,000 to 61 core probable athletes to resume training

Hockey India announced Tuesday that it would be providing financial aid of ₹10,000 to each of the 61 core probable athletes to assist them to resume training.

Hockey India anunced Tuesday that it would be providing financial aid of ₹10,000 to each of 61 core probable athletes currently t holding employment amid ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.  Hockey India Executive Board anunced its immediate support for athletes which should provide "basic financial relief" and assist m in resuming sporting activities. 61 core probables include 30 junior women, 26 junior men, 4 senior women and 1 senior men's player.

Hockey India to support players with financial aid

Officiating President of Hockey India, Gyanendro Ningombam, said in statement issued that help from association will help athletes to resume training without ding any financial burden on ir families. With sports slowly resuming in all parts of country, hierarchy has taken decision to support its players, currently struggling with employment opportunities amid pandemic.

" ongoing battle with Covid-19 pandemic has h an verse impact on athletes who don’t have jobs, for m to be able to continue sporting activities while ir families face financial constraints will be difficult. Hockey India was keen to find a way to give m some immediate relief and has decided to help se players with Rs 10,000 each as financial assistance in se difficult times, which would mean y would t d any ditional burden on ir families as y look to resume sports activities in near future. We hope this assistance will help players to soon resume sporting activities and give m necessary confidence to focus ir energies on excelling for country," Ningombam said in statement.
