Mandeep Singh tests positive for COVID-19 amidst COVID-19 crisis at SAI
Indian hockey star Mandeep Singh became the sixth athlete to test positive for COVID-19 at SAI's National Excellence Centre in Bengaluru.

Indian hockey camp at Sports Authority of India (SAI) complex has been hit by a coronavirus crisis with as many as six players testing positive for virus. players were in mandatory quarantine before resumption of training, which began on August 4. Mandeep Singh COVID-19: Indian hockey coronavirus crisis continues as striker becomes latest to test positive
Sports of Authority of India on Monday anunced results of Mandeep Singh COVID-19 test, making him sixth Indian player to test positive for virus. SAI anunced that 25-year-old was given COVID-19 test (RT PCR) along with 20 or players at National Camp at SAI's National Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Before Mandeep Singh COVID-19 confirmation, Indian captain Manpreet Singh tested positive for COVID-19 along with four ors last week. Defender Surender Kumar, Jaskaran Singh, drag-flicker Varun Kumar and goalkeeper Krishan Bahur Pathak are or four hockey players with coronavirus.

According to SAI doctors, all Indian hockey players were showing only mild symptoms and are doing well. y are being housed in National Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. players were earlier stranded at National Excellence Centre for over two months until June when a national lockdown was imposed to contain coronavirus pandemic. SAI said that routine investigations as per protocol will be conducted by doctors till players' vitals are rmal again.

Indian hockey coach Graham Reid h said that all five tested players were doing fine as he himself is currently under self-isolation. Reid said that SAI is taking good care of players while chefs are making special dishes for m as per ir choice beyond mess menu and athletes are very happy about it. former Australian hockey star said that he is very happy that SAI me testing of athletes mandatory. That proactive step helped in identifying problem right in time and hopes that all athletes recover well. Mandeep Singh hails from Jalandhar and first came into limelight after he was picked in first-ever Hockey India League auction by franchise Ranchi Rhis for a winning bid of $13,000 (₹9.74 lakh) and subsequently me his India debut in 2013.
