Nikhat Zareen on Tuesday demanded a fair Olympic selection trial and asked national federation (BFI) to telecast live fight after her much-anticipated showdown against MC Mary Kom in Indian Boxing League was canceled. 

With three spots alrey sealed for Olympic trials, Nikhat's chances of securing fourth and final place depended on how she fares in IBL bout against Mary Kom on Tuesday but w with fight t happening she has demanded a fair decision from Boxing Federation of India (BFI).

At trial scheduled for December 27 and 28 here, each weight category will have four contenders. Three places are alrey secured in 51kg women's division after Jyoti Gulia and Ritu Grewal won gold and silver in women's national in Kannur while Mary Kom is assured of a spot after she won bronze at women's World Championships in Ulan-Ude, Russia in October.

battle for fourth spot

toss-up w for fourth spot is between Nikhat and Pinki Rani. Nikhat said she is disappointed because BFI h assured her spot if she fared well against Mary Kom on Tuesday.

"I was looking forward to bout with Mary Kom but unfortunately it's t happening today. So I have to fight reserve boxer -- Darshana Dutt. I was all rey for this bout but at last moment I got to kw that she is t playing," Nikhat said. "It was an opportunity for me to showcase my boxing skills, people could kw that Nikhat Zareen is re and she has challenged Mary Kom.

"I wanted to play league just because everyone would have seen bout on TV and kw me. w I have to prepare for trails but I want trials to be televised live on TV and t in close doors so that people can kw what happened in bout," she ded.
 

When asked that trails will be videographed by federation, Nikhat said: "Yes, it will be videographed but it will be under BFI's custody. I am t worried but still someone where down line re remains a doubt wher it will be a fair decision. Being a boxer and after going through such troubles you can't easily trust anyone.

"I am a bit worried wher decision will be fair or t so that's why I want trails should be televised live or re is live streaming so that everyone can kw how fair decision was it," he said. Nikhat claimed that she couldn't participate in nationals as BFI wanted her to play IBL.

"BFI wanted me to play league so I didn't play nationals and that's why I am right w fourth choice boxer for trails in 51kg. I was told by BFI to play league," said Nikhat, who is skipper of rth East Rhis franchise.

Nikhat said such uncertainties affect an athlete's preparation. "I got a mail from BFI stating that mine and Mary Kom's trial will happen. n y said that Nikhat will have to fight and win against Mary Kom in league to get fourth spot in trials," she claimed.

"This, of course, affects my preparations. I just want authorities to show me a clear path. If y say that your trails will be on that day n I can focus on that. But in between you say that you have to perform well in IBL, n only we will think about wher to give you fourth spot in trails or t is t fair."
