The first T20 match between India and South Africa was abandoned due to rain. India comfortably won the second T20 international by 7 wickets. Batting first, South Africa scored 149/5 in their 20 overs led by Quinton de Kock who scored 52 off 37 balls putting together a partnership with Temba Bavuma who scored 49 of 43 balls. Deepak Chahar picked up two wickets for India giving away 22 runs. Navdeep Saini, Ravindra Jadeja, and Hardik Pandya chipped in with one wicket each. At the end of 12 overs, it seemed like the Proteas were on course for a big total, but some tight bowling in the death overs ensured they did not accelerate and ended up with a below-par score.
In reply, the Indian top-order did not get off to the best possible start with Rohit Sharma dismissed early for 12. Shikhar Dhawan and the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli put on a stand of 61 for the 2nd wicket before Dhawan was dismissed by a stunning catch by David Miller. Rishabh Pant continued poor form and was dismissed for just 4 before Shreyas Iyer in the company of Kohli guided India to a comfortable 7 wicket victory with the Indian captain ending on an undefeated 72 of 52 balls. The final match of the T20 series will be played in M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
