Justin Gaethje reveals what he told Khabib Nurmagomedov after he broke down in the octagon
After the fight, Khabib Nurmagomedov broke down in the centre of the octagon, remembering his later father and head coach Abdulmanap, who passed away in July.

At UFC 254, Khabib Nurmagomedov added ar achievement to his legacy as he defeated Justin Gaethje to retain his lightweight title, becoming one greatest MMA fighters of all time. However, lightweight champion will t be keeping his belt for long as he anunced his retirement soon after bout. “Today I want to say this is my last fight. way am I coming here without my far. When UFC called me about Justin (Gaethje) I spoke with my mor for three days. She didn’t want me to fight without far and I said this is my last fight – and I have given her my word,” Khabib said in octagon after his win.

After fight, Khabib Nurmagomedov broke down in centre of octagon, remembering his later far and head coach Abdulmanap, who passed away a few months ago due to complications arising from COVID-19. While champion was on his knees, Justin Gaethje came up to him and evidently whispered words of encourment.

While speaking to BT Sport after event, Justin Gaethje revealed what he told Khabib Nurmagomedov at that moment. Justin Gaethje said that when he saw champ weep, he went to him and said: “I’m so sorry I haven’t had chance to tell you I’m sorry for your loss, but you just made your far really proud.” However, Highlight later admitted that he was upset because of his loss, but is ready for “next one”.

After Khabib Nurmagomedov’s departure, lightweight division has really opened up. While Cor McGregor has anunced his return, Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson remain at top of division. Dustin Poirier and newcomer Michael Chandler also have ir eyes set on winning prestigious title which Eagle held for almost three years.
